As more people in more towns and cities become conscious of the need to change individual and
collective patterns of energy use, formal and informal energy committees are being formed in many
places. To date, Athol, New Salem, Orange, and Warwick have convened town energy
committees, and there is discussion about it in some of the other North Quabbin towns.

Co-op Power has shared language generated by Rob Garrity of the Mass Climate Action
Network for a resolution to bring to your select board and town meeting:
To see if the Town shall establish a "Clean Energy Committee" for
the purpose of investigating and making recommendations to the
Selectmen on opportunities to reduce energy consumption, promote
energy conservation or promote the development of clean energy
generating facilities. Said committee shall have no fewer than
five members, appointed by the Selectmen for three year terms.
